Vadodara: City-based science graduate Vasant Mungrane has prepared India’s first fire-proof and heat-resistant ready-mix plaster. By using this AC It is used sparingly, is light in weight, is heat resistant, and is resistant to termites and other pests. Also, it increases the lifespan of the building. Its primary objective is to protect human life and buildings in case of fire and to prevent the spread of fire. Vasant Mungrane has also patented this product and has registered it with Startup India and MSME.
Started research inspired by fire incident
Vasant Mungrane has done Bachelor of Science from Rajkot. After graduation, he worked in various industries since 2015. He was shocked by the fire incident in Takshashila, Surat, where innocent children lost their lives. This incident inspired him to create fireproof plaster and he started research for it.
Plaster made after three years of hard work
Vasant Mungrane said that the Takshila fire was a warning, which gave him the idea of making something that could stop the fire from spreading and save lives. After three and a half years of hard work, he started ‘Satva Fire Plast’ in November 2023 and registered it with Startup India and MSME. This fire proof plaster can be used in buildings, call centers and cold storage. The Takshila disaster in 2019 inspired him to develop this new product compared to traditional plaster.
Efforts to solve the challenges of the mortgage sector
Vasant Mungrane further explained that the construction industry faces two main challenges: concerns about fire safety and the need to reduce carbon emissions. While conventional construction materials are not successful in overcoming these problems, ‘Satva Fireplast’ has emerged as a revolutionary solution. It resists fire as well as provides better thermal insulation and environmental benefits. The product is engineered to prevent the spread of fire and heat transfer, keeping buildings cool in summer and warm in winter.
Light weight and water resistant properties
This fireplast is light in weight, which makes the construction process easier and also reduces the total weight of the building. Its waterproof properties help in controlling internal moisture, thereby creating a healthy environment. This fireproof plaster has been tested at various places and has received good reviews.
Cut down on AC and heater usage
Vasant Mungrane further said that this plaster was used in a corporate office in Delhi, where AC was used extensively. After applying plaster, the inside temperature dropped and AC usage reduced by 40%. After this, it was also used in six bunkers located in Rajouri, where the use of heaters reduced. This fireproof plaster has a rating of 6 hours at a temperature of 1250 degrees, making it effective up to 1250 degrees. With its use, a difference of 10-12 degrees was found in the temperature of the building as compared to the outside temperature.
Lighter and safer than traditional plaster
Compared to normal plaster, this fireproof plaster is one-third lighter in weight. While normal plaster weighs two kilos per square foot, fireproof plaster weighs only 700 grams. In normal plaster, sand, gravel and cement are used, whereas in this fireproof plaster, instead of sand, natural lava stone has been used by converting it into powder.
Difference in price but benefits are more
If we talk about the price, the cost of this fireproof plaster is Rs 50-52 per square foot, whereas the price of normal plaster is Rs 20-25. The price of this plaster is double, but its benefits are many times more.
